Every month I get a Birchbox subscription beauty box filled with samples of different products based on my specific profile. I’ve been getting this box on and off for the last year. I tend to do it for 3-4 months, cancel, use up my samples and restart again.
In my December box, I received a 10$ off 35$ coupon and used it towards a purchase of 3 mystery sample packs and brow wiz from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I received my normal Birchbox for January today as well (picture of that down below). Each mystery sample pack comes with two samples, one regular and one deluxe. I added 3 to my cart as well as the brow wiz, got one mystery box for free, 10$ off and used 20$ in points from my reviews to get my total to $14 including shipping. Can’t beat that!
I decided that in order to make getting these boxes worth it I would start reviewing individual products out of them. Playing in with my new obsession with skincare I tried out the Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads today.
These sell in the Birchbox store here for 18$ for a 5 pack of one time use pads. I personally find that a little expensive. It works out to $3.60 an application. You can get these from Etude House for $8.91 and free shipping from Amazon. It works out to $0.89 for each application, a much better deal.
I might just be used to my Korean Beauty sheet mask and how they are soaked to the brim with lotions and essence so I wasn’t expecting these to feel so dry. They were rather plump which lead me to believe they were still filled with eye loving hydrating lotions and essences. They were a little chilly which was nice and relaxing and didn’t have any strong odors, always a plus. It also didn’t feel like any vapors or anything were coming off that would irritate my eyes during application. I placed them under my eyes and went to wash dishes so by the time I was done 20 minutes had passed and it was time for me to take them off.
After removing the pads and throwing them away I inspected my under eyes. They did feel noticeably softer, brighter and less puffy. BUT and the big BUT is the price. Despite these working, I do still keep my skincare to a manageable budget and these do not fit the bill.
I do pay for my own Birchbox subscription and if you are interested in checking out the service for yourself this is my affiliate link I will earn nothing more than points towards more purchases if you use this link.
