I first heard of Madame Scodioli from the Indie Perfume Lovers facebook group when another blogger posted her favorite perfume list right now and I know I’m going to sound like a parrot here but I love coffee. So when I saw that Head over Heels was a chocolate truffle and espresso perfume why the heck was I going to turn that down. I sold a few unloved bottles and purchased this baby. It is a 1oz or 30ml bottle for 30$ if you don’t get the atomizer or if from that same link you pick the atomizer bulb it is 36$ and was $2.94 to ship from Kansas to me in California. The atomizer allows for a light mist to come out which is perfect if you like to put on a little, see how strong it is, and go from there.
I appreciate the simplicity of the blend but it doesn’t mean it smells simple. It doesn’t smell like a cheap perfume you’d get at Walmart.
Head over Heels
Espresso & Chocolate Truffles
In the bottle, I find that it is more rich dark chocolate and just a little hint of tootsie roll. The tootsie roll isn’t a bad thing! I am secretly addicted to tootsie rolls even though I so rarely get a chance to have them. I never find that the perfumers alcohol is overwhelming or really there at all which is nice. Often with EDPs I find I have to wait for the scent to dispel a little before I can smell the true goodness of an Eau de Parfum. Once I spray it on my skin it smells initially like the same rich dark chocolate until it dries down, which is does very quickly. Dark, slightly bitter, espresso comes out and it blends really well with the chocolate. It is a little creamy almost like a cuban coffee. It is absolutely a strong coffee smell, without a doubt. Which is exactly what I wanted.
I wore it for about 5 hours yesterday before I wanted to reapply it so I could smell it just as strong as when I first put it on. I sprayed a little on my wrists, which I rub around my forearms, my neck, a little on my clothes and my hair because of how lightly it mists out of the atomizer bulb opening I don’t feel like I’m putting on too much. It never feels cloying or headache inducing.
I must say I am very impressed with this so far. I absolutely plan on trying more perfumes from Madame Scodioli.
