Around July in a Facebook group I’m apart of called Indie Perfume Lovers the owner of Twisted Wonderland Perfumery Rae asked if anyone with a blog would be interested in reviews some of her products. I love getting to try out new brands so I reached out to her and offered to write a review post of the products she sent me for free. After a little bit of messaging, we’re birthday twins, she sent me over her scent and product list. I was allowed to chose 1 lip balm, 1 lip scrub and 5 perfume samples. I could chose the perfume samples in either EDP or Perfume Oil so I chose a mixture in order to get a more well rounded review.
A little bit about Twisted Wonderland Perfumery, the shop is located in Upstate New York and ships all across the US, Canada and UK. She does ask if you are in another country to reach out to her so she can calculate the proper shipping and make sure customs rules are okay! Twisted Wonderland Perfumery is named after her love of Alice in Wonderland, all things smelly, and horror.
I’m going to first talk about the lip scrub and the lip balm before I get into the perfume reviews.
Lip Scrub, for the scrub I chose Peachy Apple, which did notice as of right now is not available on the website. It smells like jolly ranchers and peach rings! It’s lightly fruit and not heavy at all.
Ingredients: Pure Cane Sugar, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond), Vitis Vinifera Oil (Grapeseed), Flavoring
I’ve used this product a few times before I apply the lip balm and a matte liquid lipstick that is particularly drying, either colourpop or jeffree star and it does significantly help. I often get chapped lips that peel if I don’t constantly apply lip balm. I found that this prepped my lips perfectly for the lip balm or any other lip balm of my choice. The first step in my morning makeup/skincare routine has been using this lip scrub and the balm and letting it sit while I apply my skincare. 20 minutes later my lips are so soft and supple and ready for lipstick!
Lip Scrubs are $6.50, I didn’t see a size on the website on the listing page. They are also eatable but it isn’t recommended to eat a jar of it obviously unless you want a hurt tumtum.
Lip Balm, for the balm I chose Cappuccino with Whip which has a light coffee scent with no coffee flavor. These are in a standard .15oz tube with a little twist up. The formula is light and non-greasy but moisturizing. While I didn’t, I love that you can chose a lip scrub to match the lip balm in flavor. As I said above, I’m a big fan of this before I put on a liquid lipstick.
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Tocopherol (Vitamin E Oil), Flavoring, Sweetener. (Some Also Contain Lip-Safe Mica Coloring)
Onto the perfumes, I chose both EDP and Perfume Oil and tried to pick from the different collections available at the time. All scents are cruelty-free as well as vegan.
A set of 5 1ml perfume samples will run you $13.50 + shipping. The EDP formula can only be shipped in the USA. An 10ml EDP sprayer is $15.00 + shipping. A 5ml perfume oil is $13.50 + shipping.
What’s in the Hookah, EDP: All the tobacco! Notes of cherrywood and raspberry combined with caramel pipe tobacco and vanilla bourbon. Fresh on my skin, bright cherry and other fruits burst. As my skin warms a rich deep scent emerges mixing with the fruit. Much like the name it does remind me of Hookah Shisha. I rub my wrists together to really bring out the scent and a boozy rich note comes out to play. It’s still a little fruity but not as bright as my initial application. I do find that the tobacco isn’t overwhelmingly rich which I appreciate, I like tobacco but I don’t like that super true REAL smell. On total dry down it is sweet, scrumptious caramel booze.
It does hug closer to my skin but I also haven’t applied nearly the amount I usually would on an every day application due to my testing multiple scents. This is the first one I applied for my review and I can still get whiffs of it as I type of my thoughts.
Absolutely Alice, Perfume Oil: A delightful sweet & fruity blend of fresh peaches, wild raspberries, and wafts of tooth-achingly sweet pink cotton candy.
Bright, bright bright! Lightly green and fresh juicy peaches. As it warms up on my skin sweetness emerges that mingles with the bright peach. This is a perfect summer perfume! It’s girly and flirty. It is a relatively simple perfume but that isn’t a bad thing. I do find that the scent is richer in the EDP than the Perfume Oil but they are totally different mediums so they play with scents differently. It could also be my skin chemistry.
Deadite, EDP: That will teach you not to mess with the Necronomicon! Seemingly sweet blackberry jam with a sinister twist of patchouli, black pepper, and vanilla.
Deadite in bottle is pure blackberry with a hint of vanilla. Once it is applied to my skin the patchouli comes out to play. My skin amps up incense smells so that is no surprise to me, good thing I’m a patch fiend. Warmed up is rich patchouli with swirls of vanilla. The blackberry jam has all but disappeared on my skin. It’s still a little fruity just not in your face blackberry like it was in bottle. I don’t get black pepper at all. I really enjoy the patchouli.
Eat me, Drink me, Perfume Oil: Have you ever wondered what exactly was in that “Drink Me” bottle, or what that little “Eat Me” cake tasted like? Well now you know! Wild black cherry juice served beside a vanilla waffle pastry topped with maraschino cherries.
Unfortunately this is the one scent that just didn’t like me. It’s just sour cherry juice and it makes me sad. I inevitably know that not all scents agree with me but it’s always disappointing when it happens. After a while I do get a little sweet pastry sort of scent but it isn’t enough for this to be wearable for me. Good thing I have a essential oil diffuser that I use in this exact situation!
Mistress of the Dark, EDP: A seductive blend of dragons blood, patchouli, and a dab of spun sugar.
Now, this one I am ALL about! Dragons Blood and Patchouli are two of my absolute favorite notes. In bottle it smells like sexy man aftershave. On my skin dragons blood and patchouli swirl in an incense playground. It’s a little peppery, rich and smells like my favorite dragons blood incense sticks. This one lasts forever on me!! I do believe this is the winner in the full bottle purchase!
Final thoughts, I am really pleased with my initial introduction to this brand. I do think I’ll be trying more. Out of everything I sampled the lip scrub and Mistress of the Dark is my favorite. I do prefer the EDP formula and overall find the scents stronger and the longevity at least on me better.
As a reminder, I did receive these products for free in exchange for this HONEST review. I do not make any money off my blog and this is all for fun.
Oh I have been wondering about this company ! Great review and fantastic idea about using the oil in your diffuser.
