I don’t remember how I first found out about Love Potion Perfumes, it was most likely in a Facebook group Indie Perfume Lovers. I made a mental note about eventually getting around to trying them since at the time of discovery I was already fairly busy with other reviews and didn’t want to forget about them in the shuffle. They seemed like a unique brand that deserved my full attention. A little over half a year later I wound up in another Facebook group Wax Chat for wax melts, where quite a few ladies kept mentioning Love Potion and put them back on my radar again.
I will warn ahead of time this post is going to be wordy and long, Love Potion is a unique perfume brand and I want to cover all the information possible. If you are just interested in the reviews please skip further down. 😀
Right now, it is Pherotine which is the only time of the year you can get samples of perfumes with pheromones included. You can also get unscented pheromones and copulins on their Etsy page.
I picked the perfect time to order since they had quite a few sample sets available for a discount. I purchased the Set of 14 Trials for Women which is a $70 value for $44.95. They have a few different options for samples;
Set of 10 Trials for Men ~ a $50 value for $29.95
Set of 14 Trials for Women ~ a $70 value for $44.95
Set of 19 Trials for Women (Women’s + Unisex) ~ a $95 value for $59.95
Full Set of 24 Trials for both Men & women ~ a $120 value for $74.95
Purchasing the set I did made my samples $3.21/piece versus $5/piece if I bought them individually. They are very generous 2ml samples and 2 of the samples are spray samples.
I figured purchasing a pre-determined sample set might be the best thing for me because frankly if I picked the scents myself I’m just going to pick “my type” and it wouldn’t be a very well-rounded review.
These are the scents included in the sampler I purchased; each scent also comes with a pheromone blend added to it. Now I’m not an expert at Pheromones, I really don’t know much about them so when it comes to explaining those I’m going to source my information from Love Potions website, they have a great section all about the different blends and what makes them up. You can find the list of Pheromones and what they do here on the website.

While I couldn’t chose my base or “carrier” for my samples, I love that they allow you to chose for your perfume.
You can chose from Oil (they use Dipropylene Glycol, a odorless, skin-safe and hypoallergenic). Oil bases will wear closer to your skin and require heat for proper diffusion of the scent. Per their website, they recommend Oil for the more intimate or “sexual” pheromones, especially the ones that contain copulins due to what I said earlier with the heat diffusion.
Alcohol, which is light in weight and will carry the scent the furthest distance from your body will work best with their more social pheromone mixes. Love Potion does say on their website that they alcohol based perfumes will last between 2-5 hours.
60%/40% Alcohol to Oil Ratio, their website indicates that they use this ration for pheromone products in a 1 fl oz spray bottle to take advantage of the ‘best of both worlds’. The combination will allow for a longer lasting scent but more diffusion into the air.
Silicone base, which is Cyclopentasiloxane (also known as CPS or D5). This base is helpful for people who find that their skin chemistry is a fickle mistress. The silicones molecules are too large to be absorbed into the cells of the skin. It lasts on the skin longer than alcohol based perfume and also diffuses in the air more than oil based. CPS is also a clear, odorless, skin-safe and hypoallergenic base.
I really appreciate that they have formulated different bases to meet different needs of their customers, it shows a lot of care goes into their process.
Onto the reviews!
Pesky Pixie with True Confessions
blossoms of Lilly of the valley, peony and lavender brightened with lemon blossom EO and sweetened with peach
In vial, I’ll be honest it smells like orange soap. It’s very bright, citrusy and green. On my skin, it is very much the same at first but I don’t find it as soapy. The peach is the note at the forefront on my skin followed by a general bright citrus scent. This really morphs into something quiet different than I was expecting as it settles on my skin and warms up. It is now this really pleasant light floral and peach scent. The peach almost reminds me of peach rings, the candy. I don’t find it very floral at all, it is just this light peach girly scent on me.
Medium to Low sillage with about 4 hours of wear time.
From Love Potions website True Confessions is;
The much celebrated combination of Beta and Alpha Androstenols, which purportedly encourage approachability, chattiness, and deeply intimate communication. Wearing a large amount is reported to have a truth serum-like effect. This mix is 60% Beta-Nol to 40% Alpha-Nol.mIngredients: Beta-Androstenol, Alpha-Androstenol
Odalisque 2017 with Bang
whipped buttercream icing, two types of crystalline honey and rich cocoa butter basking in the voluptuous warmth of tonquin musk and white amber
In vial, Odalisque is satisfyingly sweet and rich. I immediately pick up a sweet musky honey note balanced by a creamy note. On my skin, it is rich vanilla frosting with a buttery after note. As it dries my skin picks up the musk and a resinous gooey sort of note comes out to play. This sent is so satisfyingly gourmand.
It has medium-high sillage and I can easily smell it on my arms and other points on my body. This is definitely a sexy fragrance but I always find warm vanillas sexy, they are kind of my thing. Odalisque lasted about 5-6 hours on my skin.
From Love Potions website Bang is;
Odalisque is featuring Bang a pheromone & copulin addition. Essence of Woman Copulins and an extra dose of the feminine magic of Estratestraenol.
Lait du Citron with Blatant Invitation
rich velvety vanilla, warm milk and warm bread accords, drizzled with thick honey and given a splash of sparkling lemon, all on a base of warm resins

Sometimes the best way to describe a scent is with a picture and the picture above is EXACTLY the perfect representation of this scent to my nose. It is rich rich rich bread it has this yeasty quality to it that just makes my mouth salivate. I feel like with this perfume I can smell every single thing about this desert. It has a light citrus kick. It’s warm, rich and resinous. It almost reminds me of bread topped with Trader Joe’s mostly mesquite honey paired with a earl grey tea with lemon. I LOVE this one. It is a unique scent that is so true to life. It sounds like just a gourmand and it is hard to describe it as anything else but there is just something unique about the perfume that really makes me appreciate it.
From Love Potions website Blatant Invitation is;
Sexually assertive, but cuddly too – it whispers, “yes”, and gives off a vibe of uninhibited sexuality but eminently approachable at the same time.
Ingredients: Alpha-Androstenol, Alpha-Androstenone, Estratetraenol and Copulins.
Vampire Bait with Gotcha + Aja
orchid, peony, daisy, water lily and orange blossom – blended with fresh notes of lemongrass and bamboo with just a kiss of tangy currant, then sweetened with sugar, honeycomb and plant-sourced honey (AJA) and layered upon a satiny skin base of sandalwood and white musk
In bottle, this reminds me of a perfume my mother wore when I was younger called Cabotine de Gres. It’s this fresh floral scent with a little muskiness. On my skin, it is very much orange blossoms, which I really enjoy! It reminds me of passing the groves in FL or my grandmothers garden. The florals aren’t overwhelming and are super fresh and a little lemony. My skin warms the scent into a sweeter floral with a little hint of powder but the powder compliments it. A light woodsiness rounds out with sweetness and powder. I’ve never been a big fan of florals, but Love Potion really makes me reconsider that stance.
On my skin, Vampire Bait has medium sillage and lasts on my skin 5-6 hours before I needed to reapply.
From Love Potions website Gotcha + Aja is;
Gotcha is our exclusive blend, designed as the pheromonal equivalent to our original Love Potion Perfume formula. A sensual sexual attractant, but more importantly with a little something extra…something to help erode his fears, something to help him let go of his inhibitions and express the intensity of his emotions, something to help nudge him off that cliff of indecision and into your arms.
* Ingredients: Beta-AndrostAnol, Estratetraenol, Alpha-Androstenol, Beta-Androstenol, DHEAS, Alpha-THDOC, Allo-pregnanolone, Copulins.Aja is a new copulin analog from a natural plant hormone which, when concentrated, gives off a honey-like scent which is incredibly evocative of sexual arousal; the smell attracts bees, insects, birds and animals to the plants, aiding in pollination, and we suspect it effect humans in a very similar way to copulins. We ask our beloved customers to try Aja instead of their usual copulins – use it in the same way as they would those other products – in order to gauge both its usefulness and its olfactory impact. It emulates a “dirty” honey type of scent but its natural source may mean some will find it more palatable than other alternatives.
Themyscira with Girl Girl
rich vanilla and coconut cream made just the slightest bit boyish with earthy patchouli, kissed with the delights of spring and orange blossom honeys, deepened with the mystery of exotic black orchid and a touch of licorice root
In vial, it is earthy with a little anise peeking through. I find this perfume so sexy right off the bat. I can immediately tell there is patchouli, one of my all time favorite notes. It’s a little sweet but not overwhelmingly so, it isn’t at all gourmand. It has this slightly floral quality about it and the anise peeks through throughout the wear time. As it dries and warms on my skin a more floral quality mixes with the deep earthiness. I really love this one. I think it’ll age beautifully and I’m excited to see how it does over the next few months before I consider purchasing a larger size.
Our of all the samples this one has the highest sillage for me and lasted ALL day! At least 8 hours before I noticed a fade.
From Love Potions website Girl Girl is;
This blend was designed as a same-sex attractant for females. (The world’s FIRST in fact! This is our original blend, back again!) In the language of pheros, this blend covers: sexual attraction, happiness, cuddling, female to female bonding, and social dominance. It works great for female to female interactions of ALL kinds, and seems to exhibit the added effect of sexual stimulation for the wearer too. Ingredients: alpha-androstenol, estratetraenol, DHEAS, Epiandrosterone, copulins, and more….
Winter in the Tropics with La Femme Mystere
Gardenia, pikaki and plumeria accented with notes of ginger grass EO and a dried grasses accord upon a base of delicate amber
The name of this perfume says it all it is a tropical oasis. The plumeria really shines in the vial. Plumeria to me has always smelled like fresh cut peaches, something sweet and juicy. It’s tropical and warm, it smells like the sun is shining down on you. It almost smells like a mild rose meets citrus. It’s a little grassy but more in a fresh green way versus wet cut grass. I find it so interesting that as a floral hater all these floral perfumes are really wowing me. I really wasn’t expecting this. My mother used to have a bunch of gardenia bushes lining the our screen in pool growing up, so this is one of those scents that immediately sends me to summers in the pool, sun shining down on me and my sister playing mermaid or something silly like that, with the scent of the gardenia mingling around us.
Much like the other florals this also has a high sillage on my skin and lasts 6 hours before I have to reapply.
From Love Potions website La Femme Mystere is;
A deeply feminine and voluptuously seductive aura that inspires positive feelings, deep emotions, meaningful connections, and leaves a lasting, memorable, enchanting impression. Both social and sexual, this blend of seven carefully balanced ingredients evokes the “seven veils” of feminine mystery… sultry and intense…it casts a spell, greatly enhancing your sex appeal. This blend is designed to remind us (and those around us) of our feminine power, and enhance it. Ingredients: Estratetraenol, DHEAS, Beta-Androstenol, Alpha-Androstenol, Epi-Androsterone, Beta-THDOC, Androstadienone.
Friends & Lovers with Treasured Hearts (Spray)
cloud of fluffy-soft marshmallow and vanilla swirled with soothing lavender, a dash of anise, glittering drops of pink sugar, smoothed with sandalwood and amber then dusted with powdered sugar
In the spray bottle it’s sweet lavender, not super herby, lightly woody and a sugary sweetness. Freshly sprayed on my skin it’s a light floral scent with the grounding note of sandalwood. It has a well-rounded sweetness to it that compliments the light floral woodsiness. As it dries down on my skin it has a warm quality and the sandalwood continues to shine. Warmed up on my skin the lavender note comes to the forefront with a sweetness like marshmallow fluff. This is pleasantly floral and sweet without the floral becoming too overwhelming. Sometimes lavender gives me headaches but while testing this one I’ve had no issues.
Friends & Lovers has medium-low sillage and is more of a body hugger. I never feel overwhelmed by the scent. I got about 4 1/2 hours of wear out of this one.
From Love Potions website Treasured Hearts is;
This blend encourages deep bonding between women – seems to work very well in soothing bristly females; makes people of both sexes feel less intimidated in the wearer’s presence, and encourages a ‘nesting’ vibe in men – instilling a craving for permanence and commitment. Works fabulous in familial situations, we call this our “family reunion” blend.
Ingredients: 5a-Androstenol, Androsterone, and Epi-Androsterone.
Okay! So thank you to everyone who made it down this far. I hope this Part 1 review was helpful for you and I definitely suggest you try out Love Potion perfume based on these first 7 reviews. Keep an eye out for my 7 scent reviews by Love Potion end of this week!

I’ve never heard of a perfume company that does silicone base! Have you tried that with other perfumes?
I have not! I’ve been curious about it as well and definitely plan on getting some more samples from Love Potion soon.
